In an ant colony, every member works towards a shared goal of survival and growth. Inspired by this collective mindset, OneAnt helps friends, neighbours, and families save money when buying groceries together.

Founded by Janaki Kambhampati, a marketing professional and community-driven entrepreneur, OneAnt was inspired by her experience living in shared accommodations. She noticed that students and newcomers often pooled purchases to stretch their budgets.

“I realized people were already group buying without calling it that,” Janaki notes. “They were saving quietly. OneAnt gives that behaviour a home.”

Based in Vancouver, OneAnt is a group buying platform reimagining how communities shop for everyday groceries. Built on the simple insight that people already share, split, and buy household essentials together, OneAnt turns informal habits into a structured, savings-first shopping experience designed for today’s cost-sensitive households.

As part of the next phase of growth, OneAnt is expanding to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Ontario, aiming to serve the large and diverse South Asian population in the region.

How Does it Work?

As grocery prices rise in Vancouver, many are seeking practical ways to manage household expenses. OneAnt enables users to create or join groups, unlock discounted prices on everyday essentials, and shop together for better value.

The platform focuses on local vendors, multicultural grocery needs, and community-first distribution through WhatsApp groups. When a member joins or creates a group, it unlocks discounts on groceries and products. The platform then leverages collective purchasing power by making shopping more social and affordable. By connecting local shoppers with local businesses, it also helps small shops reach new customers.

Building the OneAnt Community

Since OneAnt’s inception in 2023, the company has reached several milestones, including:

  • Using AI search to strengthen brand visibility.
  • Using Large Language Models (LLMs), including Google, AI, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, to appear in grocery, savings, and Vancouver-based search queries.
  • Launching a user-friendly website that focuses on deal-first navigation.
  • Expanded their inventory pipeline with five new vendors.
  • Created curated bundle deals, designed for easy sharing within groups. These bundles simplify group formation and accelerate first-time users’ familiarity with the platform.

As OneAnt continues to grow, its mission remains the same: to make household essentials affordable by turning savings into a shared effort, not an individual struggle.
