About the Role

Empowered Startups seeks a dynamic and driven Market Development Specialist to join our team in Vancouver (Hybrid) or Toronto (Remote).

The Market Development Specialist will be instrumental in driving the success of the Lungz air mask by identifying and cultivating niche markets, ensuring the product meets the needs of early adopters, and building a solid foundation for market expansion.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about market research, product testing, marketing, sales, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research and Engagement

  • Identify and analyze potential early adopter niche segments for the Lungz air mask.
  • Assess the size and distribution options of niche markets.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with market segments to compare Lungz to existing alternatives and assess potential and pricing.
  • Conduct tests of the Lungz air mask with early adopter niches to gather feedback on its value and performance within these segments.

Marketing and Sales Development

  • Determine the most promising niches and develop landing pages to test market desirability.
  • Oversee the creation of engaging video content tailored to the target niche.
  • Drive pre-sales efforts to secure commitments from early adopting customers.
  • Collect and utilize testimonials from early adopters to build credibility and market presence.
  • Plan and execute a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Collaboration and Reporting

  • Work closely with the Director of Incubation and Innovation to prioritize business hypotheses and plan experiments to test those hypotheses.
  • Prepare detailed experiment plans and report on findings.
  • Regularly update senior leadership on progress.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in market research, marketing strategy, or product development.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and engaging niche markets, especially for consumer products.

Skills

  • Proven experience in marketing and sales.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess market potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with digital marketing, including creating landing pages.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with crowdfunding platforms and strategies is a plus.

Compensation Range

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000.
