Finding a better way to connect doctors with meaningful information about their patients is at the heart of Wellspring Data’s innovative mission and sharing real-time data about the heart is the conduit to making it happen.

Wellspring Data Limited is a SaaS (Software as a Service) startup that helps individuals with or at high risk of heart disease to manage their medical conditions by monitoring and transferring real-time data from the patient’s wearable device to designated medical professionals. Over the course of its incubation at Empowered Startups this past year, Wellspring has evolved tremendously, culminating in the recent approval of its Pulsia app.

Founder and CEO of Wellspring Data Limited, Kin Man Tung, spent the past 12 months laser focused on generating traction for his startup, growing his team, and releasing his launch product.

Throughout the year, Kin gradually built out a diverse advisory board capable of providing insights, mentorship, and expertise in technology, health, and business. Last February, he added three technology experts specialising in product management, software engineering, and UX/UI design. In June, he welcomed an accomplished digital health business advisor, Sally Powell, who is an expert in SaaS for third-party wearables and developing partnerships in both public and private healthcare. In August, he further enhanced the board with the addition of Jonathan Choy: a cardiologist with expertise in using wearable data in conjunction with cardiovascular health.

August also saw Wellspring grow its team by hiring a Marketing and Business Development Lead: Cody Legge. Cody and Kin subsequently generated significant interest by meeting with clinics to share Wellspring’s vision for improving health outcomes and to demo its launch product. Seven clinics have already signed letters of interest to express the value they see in the technology and their interest in using the Pulsia app with their patients.

At the end of November, Wellspring proudly launched the initial version of its Pulsia app, which has since been approved for download in the Apple App Store.

It has been a terrific year for Wellspring Data. It was challenging at times but in looking back the fact that we were able to achieve our major milestones and start to build key partnerships that will help us for 2024, I couldn’t be happier with where we are at.” – Kin Man Tung, Founder and CEO, Wellspring Data Limited

Wellspring Data is poised for another year of substantial growth in 2024. Through facilitation by Empowered Startups, Wellspring is currently finalizing a partnership with one of the top medical universities in Canada to collaborate on a research project that will not only result in additional functionality to the Pulsia app, but also support health-technology innovation in Canada and Canadian post-secondary education. In addition, Wellspring will focus on running pilot projects with several clinics in Canada to demonstrate the value of its product in better managing heart health while simultaneously fundraising for its seed round.
